Mr Payne, Mr Fletcher and Mrs Gee
Welcome to Willow's Class Page
I must start with a huge thank you and well done to all the children in Key Stage 1 for their fantastic efforts to create such a great Christmas performance. We are now in the second term and it feels like the first one has flown by.
Queens, Kings, and Castles
It’s the Summer Term and the Sun is Shining but we aren’t at the 6 week holidays yet and there is so much still to learn and enjoy.
We want the children to be as independent as possible from the start of the day so please let them organise themselves when they come into the classroom. They can do it!
We will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and working on our arithmetic to help speed up our recall of number bonds to 10 and 20. We will be using 10 and 20 frames to help solve problems and visualise the recall facts.
We will also be looking at coins and fractions of a shape.
We will be using our mantra of ‘think it’, ‘say it’, ‘write it’ and ‘re-read it’ when writing our sentences. Capital letters for proper nouns will also be a focus in the first stages of the term. We will continue to use finger spaces, punctuation and work on our lovely handwriting.
With all these skills we can then write some great non-fiction reports about castles and our own stories based on St George and the Dragon.
We will be listening to, sharing, acting out and enjoying lots of fairy tales. Making predictions, inferring from what we can see and read.
Science and Geography
Investigations: We will be completing some investigations using the sentence ‘What will happen to the X if we change Y? Looking at different materials and their properties too.
Athletics and Games will be a focus for our P.E delivery this year.
Art and DT
Our Art and DT will help us design our own shields, coat of arms and split pin figures.
We will be learning how to log in to a laptop, save and retrieve work. The children will be designing their own castles, shields, and book front covers.
Just a few things that we have been investigating or taking part in.
