Dear Parents/Carers and Friends,
We wish to warmly welcome your child to our school and welcome you and your family to the wonderful school community of Glapton L.E.A.D. Academy. As head teacher at a L.E.A.D. Academy, I know these are very special years for our pupils we want their time with us to provide them with some of their best memories ever, memories of discovery friendship, inspiration, success and happy days at school.
Within our mix of pure year group classes and mixed year-group classes we carefully monitor every child’s attainment and progress to support them to develop as individuals.
We value and welcome all our children and do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, or ability. Where needed, pupils receive support from outside agencies alongside support offered by the school. Our provision map identifies all the needs of our pupils allowing us to allocate our own support staff to individuals and groups at specific times each day.
We often collaborate with artists, authors, and musicians to deliver our curriculum. We use a topic-based approach to learning with regular visits and visitors and our aim is to make our learning exciting and meaningful. A wide variety of extracurricular activities are offered, ranging from football to guitar lessons, each week.
We have two large playgrounds, a trim trail and a fabulous field for sports and play throughout the year. We have our own kitchen serving delicious, hot, nutritious dinners daily and pride ourselves on our delightful child centred dining room experience where our EYFS and Key Stage One children enjoy a free meal each day.
Safeguarding is our paramount priority. All gates lock just after the bell and access is only available via the school office.
We have two school halls with multimedia facilities and pupils have access to laptops and iPads to enhance their learning.
We believe that every child can choose to behave well and at Glapton our pupils do so every day. We operate a positive behaviour policy to ensure that our standards remain high and to support our pupils to make the right choices.
We really enjoy working in partnership with parents and carers and are working hard this year to achieve the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA).
Within an environment of educational excellence each child’s ability is recognised and valued enabling us to be immensely proud of the progress that our pupils make during their time with us.
We would love you to visit and see for yourself, the exciting learning opportunities on offer, the enthusiasm of our children and the commitment of our staff team.
Mrs C Hurst, Headteacher
