Samantha is a familiar face in the area, having grown up on the estate in which the academy is located. She is based in the local area and is proud to be leading the school.
Samantha studied for her teaching qualification at Nottingham Trent University, first qualifying in 2009. Since then, she has worked in a variety of schools as both a teacher and a leader before becoming the Headteacher of a school in Nottinghamshire.
As she takes up her second headship, leading The Glapton Academy, Samantha is looking forward to building strong, collaborative relationships with parents and carers within the school community, especially following the academy’s achievement of the Leading Parent Partnership Award in December 2024. The award recognises the academy’s commitment to supporting parents and carers in better understanding and actively participating in their child’s learning journey.
She is also keen to support the local community further by overseeing the expansion of the school’s nursery provision and increasing the school’s offer of wraparound care in the coming academic year.
Samantha also has expertise as a SENDCo, a role which saw her overseeing schools’ special educational needs and disabilities. She is a real champion for all pupils to receive the best educational provision possible in an inclusive, supportive environment within the school.
“I’m so proud to be leading this school; having grown up in the area, I’m delighted to be serving the community by helping the children achieve their very best. My goal is to ensure each and every child in our care feels confident in their abilities and dares to dream big.
“There are so many wonderful things about The Glapton Academy, and I’m very excited to be working with fantastic colleagues both at the school and at L.E.A.D. Academy Trust to make sure we can offer the best quality education to our pupils.”
“We’re delighted to have Samantha taking on the leadership of The Glapton Academy; her determination to raise pupils’ ambitions and her deep commitment to the local community mean she is well placed to build strong relationships and help the children excel.
“Samantha’s ambition is to ensure The Glapton Academy is a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring place for all its pupils, and we are confident that under her leadership, the school will continue to deliver strong outcomes for everyone.”
